Ask the Aesthetician...How do I pop a pimple without scarring?

Updated: May 27, 2020

Seti: First, if you’re “popping a pimple” chances are it hasn’t come to full maturation. How do we know when “IT’S” ready” as opposed to when “WE’RE “ready for it to go? The pimple will become soft white or mushy yellow and only the slightest pressure will release the debris and pus.

If this is not the case, and usually it isn’t…prep it! I

can’t emphasize this enough. Take a big fluffy cotton ball, soak it with really warm/hot water, dab a bit of tea tree or rose oil on the cotton ball and use this as a compress until the pustule is soft; steaming the face over a pot is old school.

Now onto the “pop”.

  1. Pad the fingers you’re going to use with tissue which serves as a buffer ( It’s also more sanitary.)

  2. Spread the skin around the circumference of the pustule/pimple and apply assertive pressure downward.

  3. Now scoop and slide your fingers in and under towards the pustule lifting it up, which will release anything that’s ready to come out.

Note: Never pinch the pimple or use your nails which breaks the skin, spreads bacteria and causes scarring. Finish with a dap of tea tea or rose oil which is antibacterial.
